back on that horse, yo

i'm at work. since yesterday. it's majorly weird.

i got in the car yesterday morning, popped in a great cd and just sang at the top of my lungs the entire drive. i even didn't want the traffic jam to end, because it was so much fun. finally, freedom.

oh - you think i'm a bad parent for thinking that? try sitting at home for ten weeks, with a baby being completely dependent on you. no matter how much i love him (and i love him more than i ever could have imagined), i was very happy to get a break. even a working break.

anyway, back at work. fun, little out of my element. i'll get used to it again, sooner than i think.

here's a conversation i had with a co-worker during lunch.

him: "so where's yannick now?"
me: "at home with his dad."
him: "oh, he's having a daddy day"
me: "i guess - tomorrow too"
him: "so your husband took parental leave?"
me: "no, he started to work parttime"
him: "okay, are you taking parental leave?"
me: "no"
him: "but how many days will you be working?"
me: "i'll be working fulltime"
him: "but after that?"
me: "what do you mean after that?"
him: "after your husband starts working fulltime again"
me: "he won't"
him: "so you're putting your kid in daycare five days a week? isn't that a bit much?"
me: "no, my husband will be working parttime so he'll be in daycare two days a week"
him: *blank*
other co-worker: "don't you get it? he's working parttime and taking care of the baby, she's bringing home the bacon"
him: *blank*

welcome to the 21st century, sucker.
we had a good laugh though.

i'm here to bore you

... again with pictures of my son. i can't help myself.

yannick discovered his nails. i can cut them as short as much as the law allows me, but he still loves to scratch his face.

he just got out of his tub and is waiting for me to take the damn picture so i can pick him up and put him into something warmer. but i needed to take a picture which shows how GIGANTIC his cheeks are. or they won't believe me. tell me you don't want to pinch them.

the flash startles him and here, he looked so cute i had to take another picture. yes, i'm bad, i know. terrible even.

don't get me wrong

again, don't get me wrong.

i've been roaming the boards to see all the excitement about the european tour. and everyone and their mom is going: i'll be at the amsterdam show! here's what i have to say about that:

STAY AWAY.

(not you sarah)

go to berlin. hell, go to any german show.

the last thing i need when he's finally over here, is a smoked up paradiso where i can't breathe normally or see the stage through the smoke because of a bunch of tourists think it's the coolest thing since lee majors to get stoned in amsterdam and see dave matthews.

yes, yes, you can smoke weed in the netherlands. big freaking woo. it's just that i've seen too many american idols play here at smaller venues and the crowd SUCKED ASS. i specifically remember jack johnson at the melkweg, with 200 people there, of which 50 americans and they completely ruined the experience for everyone else.

uh.

it just hit me.

i'll be smoking cigarettes there.

forget what i just said.

hee.

my hands are shaking

is it silly that i just had an ugly cry moment?

i can't believe it.

still can't.

i need to dance.

i'm gonna cry again.

i'm gonna dance.

i gave up hope.

never give up hope.

okay, you might think that the pope is coming.

but it's someone else.

and it's in paradiso.

i'm crazy fan.

be scared.

since a week or two, yannick insists on holding his own bottles. sometimes, he succeeds, but usually he needs some assistance.

what up, biatch

yannick and his grandmother (maarten's mom). she'll be taking care of him on mondays, starting next week.

this bed is supposed to be his bed until he's three years old. i don't think it's going to last that long.

yannick in action

let's see if this fits in my mouth
