more later

i apologize for being so incredibly moody. i realize it's not fair to dump my annoyances on all of y'all.

so instead of bitching about, i will just tell you that everything is fine, but i'm kinda extremely overwhelmingly busy, working 14 hour days like i'm the epitomy of non-pregnancy and i'm pretty ready for my maternity leave.

and that's all i got right now. other than that life is in fact still great!!

i'm feeling...

... like being incredibly cryptic. but we all hate it when others do that, don't we?

so i'll just stick to:

YO. not everything is about YOU.

bitch.

i'll be more fun in a day or two.

tonight's game is the netherlands versus argentina. both teams already know for sure they made it to the next round. i wonder what that does to your motivation. are you still eager to win or would you be trying to save your energy for when it really matters again?

it's kinda chilly and rainy over here again. never been happier about this kind of weather. a treat to my ankles and face (read: at the end of the day i'm half a balloon instead of a full-blown one).

after careful research, my conclusion is that mikey's favorite dmb song is two step.

and that's all i got right now because i'm hungry.

we don't do father's day in my family, but this year my stepsister and i decided that maybe we should make an exception. since we have an awful lot to celebrate. so yesterday i got up at 7 (on a sunday. at seven. seriously) and went over to my parents' house, where i made the folks breakfast in bed. we sat on the bed while marc was eating. it was kinda cool. like being a kid all over.

and that's all i wanted to share about my weekend. oh - one more thing. the crib is done. one item down, 1000 to go.

the bitch is back (and never gone for long)

so our organization has been taken over by this spain-based company. their head quarters are in barcelona.

barcelona rocks. no, that's an understatement. barcelona is the best european city there is, in my opinion. i know, i know, some italian cities are pretty awesome too - but there is no place like barcelona. why, you ask?
1. barcelona = gaudi town. gaudi was insanely brilliant, and the man who fired my interest for architecture. plus, the sagrada familia was the first and only building to make me cry at first sight. in a good way.
2. barcelona has the best vibe ever. paris is blase, rome is arrogant, florence is sizzling but stuck in the pas. barcelona is artistic AND innnovative, beautiful but not too obvious, old yet new.
3. the weather. the ocean. the pretty people. (only thing not cool about barcelona is that they all reach my waste).

so an excellent opportunity just in. i've been invited to come over to barcelona to meet the new management and all and discuss marketing integration. that's a free flight to my favorite european city, and an excellent opportunity to make it a fun festive weekend. sounds great, huh?

EXCEPT THAT I CANNOT FLY.

anyway, speaking of barcelona: how cool is this?

dontcha think?

god loves irony. how do i know? because just when it becomes virtually impossible for pregnant women to bend over, he giveth us the relaxine hormone which makes you drop virtually anything on the floor. such a kidder, god.

btw - i think my ankles have become eligible for the guiness book of records.

btw 2 - brazil is going to take the cup home. argentina is going to kick our orange butts. i hope this world cup is over soon. otherwise mikey's room will never ever get finished.

hello, party poopers!

most of you need to update already.

everything is going really well over here. marc is probably coming home in two weeks! we'll have to throw him a big party. only 1 out of 10 people survive what happened to him and needless to say, we're really happy he got through it.

work is fine. exciting things are happening all over the place and it's bumming me out a little i won't be around in a month's time. i'm kind of worried what i'll find when i return after four months. i mean - i shouldn't complain because i get four months off work, paid, and i know it's not like that everywhere. i think the swedish system is better though. they get a year paid maternity leave. i know that's a lot, but it means that your employer will hire someone to take your place for a year and you can focus on your kid without having to worry about work. AND studies show women are more inclined to keep working after a year's maternity leave. lord knows we need them to keep working if we want to maintain our standard in higher educated workforce.

mikey is doing well as far as i can tell. we went to pregnancy class last week. that was fun! or was it funny? the teacher had us train some muscle i did not know i had, which should help me get in and out of bed better. because i tells ya, this belly is really getting in the way. not to mention he/she is kicking 24*7 now, or so it seems. doesn't it need any sleep?? anyway, now i sprained a muscle in my butt, while getting out of bed. i guess the class isn't working so well.

my friend and class mate fiona delivered a baby boy this weekend. after 24 hours of labor and finally a vacuum pump delivery (NO idea what to call that thing in english). lovely and wonderful. really looking forward to giving birth myself. NOT. because we all know i just love pain. and you don't all know, but i know that pain killers are not used in the netherlands, because "you need to feel what you are doing and what's going on in your body". right - we don't pull teeth without anesthesia anymore either, do we?

WHATEVER THOUGH.

i shouldn't get nervous about this already.

i handed in the first draft of the first part of my thesis yesterday. looks like it's finally going somewhere....

the best thing about the counting crows and dutch band blof doing another song together ('september', co-written), is that adam duritz sings bits in dutch.

"... dat wheeeet hij whel"

heehee.

the best thing about our new car is that i have my cd-player back and i can sing along with adam, and his accent, while driving home.
